Former ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ shortstop Maegen Ellis, a product of Oak Hill Academy, signed with Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA to continue her softball in the fall. Ellis finished the Lady Warrior season batting .364 on 55 hits and 42 RBI.
Seven ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ varsity sports teams earned National Junior College Athletic Association Academic Team of the Year honorable mention awards for having met the grade-point average requirement of 3.00 or better for the 2015-16 season.
The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Diamond Warrior baseball team finished with a 3.43 GPA and ranked sixth overall.
The women’s basketball team also earned an honorable mention award, finishing with a 3.0 GPA.
Several ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ student-athletes received state and national recognition for academic performance during the 2015-16 academic year on the Decatur campus.
In all, 65 ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ student-athletes were recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges, or both organizations.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ’s Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, was recently recognized on the organization’s inaugural President’s List, which recognizes the 25 chapters with the highest membership acceptance rates.
According to the Phi Theta Kappa website, “the list is based on chapters’ acceptance rates in 2015. This new annual recognition serves as a way for all chapters — big and small, urban and rural — to see how their peers are performing.â€
A Hot Air Balloon Glow, 5K Nite-Glow Run/Walk, KidZone, Battle of the Bands and fireworks are just part of the fun scheduled for ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ’s first annual WarriorFest on Friday, April 8, on the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ campus in Decatur.
The event designed for all ages will be from 6 p.m. to Midnight on the north end of campus near the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Pavilion and Lake area.
Late inning runs allowed NJCAA Division I Shelton State Community College to sweep the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Diamond Warriors in a baseball doubleheader Tuesday, March 8, in Tuscaloosa.
ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ’s overall record falls to 12-6 on the season.
In game one, the Diamond Warriors took the lead early scoring one run in the top of the second. Shelton State responded in the bottom of the second with a run of their own.
Big hits in game two helped the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ softball team split a doubleheader against Pearl River Community College in Poplarville Tuesday, March 8.
In game one, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ was unable to get on the scoreboard, losing 1-0. PRCC’s lone run came on a walk and an East Central error in the bottom of the third inning.
Sophomore Lacey Hill out of Kilbourne (La.) High School had a strong outing in the circle for the Lady Diamond Warriors, surrendering no earned runs and four hits, while striking out 10 batters in six innings of work.
