Numerous students competed in the Mississippi SkillsUSA Championships for Region 3 held recently at ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ in Decatur. Award winners and their respective schools are listed below.

Austin Blaine of Louisville and Rebekah Scitzs of Collinsville were selected Mr. and Miss ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ for the 2018-19 school year by a recent vote of the student body.

Area educators recently attended the annual High School Counselors’ Workshop at ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ, where they were provided information on academic transfer, career-technical and healthcare programs, ACT testing, financial aid, scholarships, housing and admissions.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ sophomore nursing major Rebekah Scitzs of Collinsville has been named a 2019 Coca-Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ sophomore forward Diamond Wraggs has been named to the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 Basketball All-Tournament Team.

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ baseball team scored 32 runs and pounded out 29 hits in just 14 innings against East Mississippi, but still came home with a doubleheader split with the Lions in games played Friday, March 8, at Gerald Poole Field on the EMCC campus in Scooba.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Warriors Shutout Co-Lin, Lady Warriors Drop 7-2 Match

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ men’s tennis team shutout the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves 9-0 for the second time this season, while the East Central Lady Warriors dropped a 7-2 match to the No. 22 ranked Co-Lin Lady Wolves in action Friday, March 8, at the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Complex in Decatur.

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ men and women are both 6-5 on the season.
