Longtime, legendary, and beloved ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ English instructor Ovid Vickers of Decatur spent 40 years on the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ campus and taught generations of students to love literature and poetry. He died Monday, March 30, at age 89.

Registration is underway for ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµâ€™s high school girls soccer camp to be held May 31 and June 1-2 on ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ campus in Decatur.
The cost is $250 per camper for those staying overnight in a college residence hall and $200 for non-overnight campers.

A walk-off single by sophomore left fielder Olivia Houston helped the No. 14 East Central Lady Warriors survive a wild afternoon at the Softball Park in Decatur Tuesday, March 10, and earn a doubleheader sweep over the Marion Military Lady Tigers.
Houston’s single helped the Lady Warriors win the nightcap 8-7 after winning game one 18-14 on an afternoon that saw 47 runs, 44 hits, and 11 home runs by both teams combined.
With the wins, East Central improves to 14-4 on the season. The visitors from Marion, Ala., are 18-11.

Four nationally ranked tennis teams hit the courts at the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Complex Tuesday, March 10, with the men’s and women’s teams from Jones College each claiming 5-4 wins over the teams from ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ.
With the losses, the No. 20 ranked ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Lady Warriors are now 8-4 on the season and the Warriors are 7-5. The No. 19 Jones Lady Bobcats remain undefeated at 11-0, while the No. 20 Bobcats improve to 11-2.
