ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµâ€™s Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently won several awards at the virtual Mississippi/Louisiana PTK competition.

PTK is the international honor society for two-year colleges.

The last time the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors soccer team took the field was Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Now, 17 long months later, the Warriors are ready to get back into action and play the game they love.

The Lady Warriors soccer team of ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ posted a winning season of 9-7-1 all the way back in the fall of 2019, the last time this squad has seen the field. The team is now ready to be back in action after the 17-month long hiatus due to COVID-19.

A strong fourth-quarter performance propelled the Lady Warriors of ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ to a victory over the Co-Lin Lady Wolves on sophomore night, 52-45. The win on March 27 moves the Lady Warriors to 4-9 on the year and wrapped up regular season play.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ is offering a three-week Manufacturing Safety class at the Louisville Career Advancement Center beginning Monday, April 5.

The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday for three weeks. The cost is $25.

Included in the course is an Introduction to Manufacturing, CPR, and OSHA 10 training. Those enrolling must be 18 years old and a high school graduate.

The Louisville Career Advancement Center is located at 1475 South Church Ave.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ is offering a four-week Basic Welding class at the Louisville/Winston County Career-Technical Center beginning Wednesday, March 31.

The class will meet from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on days to be determined for four weeks. The cost of the 32-hour class is $150.

Included in the course is GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, and SMAW processes. Each student needs a welding helmet. Boots, jeans, and long sleeves are required for this class; no shorts or jeans with holes or frays.

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ baseball team has been on a tear through the MACCC with big sweeps over Mississippi Delta and Gulf Coast and a pair of splits with Itawamba and Co-Lin.

The impressive play has launched the Warriors to the No. 1 spot in the MACCC with a 13-3 conference record and caught national attention as the team has moved to No. 16 in the latest NJCAA poll. During the winning streak ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ head coach Neal Holliman also picked up his 400th career win as the Warriors' skipper.

Two former ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors are in action in the NCAA March Madness Tournament. ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ's Jariyah Covington (Starkville) played in Decatur for two seasons from 2018-2020 before inking with the Jackson State Tigers, while Kareem Thompson (Florance, Ala.) played his 2019-20 season with the Warriors before moving on to Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Choral Music Instructor Lucus Orndorff has announced audition dates for the college’s Concert Choir and Vocé vocal ensemble for the 2021-22 term.

Auditions for Concert Choir will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on consecutive Fridays, April 9, 16, 23, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 29.

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Art Department will host its annual Student Art Exhibition beginning Tuesday, April 6, in the lobby of the Vickers Fine Arts Center on the Decatur campus. The exhibition will feature drawings, paintings, sculptures, and designs produced by ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ students during the 2020-2021 college year.
