A new national study on how colleges shape students’ prospects of upward economic mobility indicates that graduates of ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ in Decatur are getting a high return on their tuition investment over their lifetimes.

After dropping two games at home to Hinds earlier in the week, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors got back on the winning track with a doubleheader sweep over Northeast Mississippi Community College Friday, April 14, at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur.

East Central won the opener 10-1 and took the nightcap 9-2.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ picked up a pair of wins over East Mississippi Community College in MACJC softball action Friday, April 14, in Scooba.

The No. 8 ranked Lady Diamond Warriors took game one by an 8-3 score and came back to win game two 9-1 in five innings.

East Central improved to 36-6 on the year and 21-5 in MACJC league play. The Lady Warriors remain in third place in the 15-team league.

Both the Jones County Junior College men’s and women’s tennis teams picked up wins over ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ in matches played Wednesday, April 12, at the Tennis Complex in Decatur.

The East Central women fell 7-2 while the men dropped a 6-3 match. On the season, the East Central men are now 12-7 and the women are 8-11.

The No. 8 ranked ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ softball team split a doubleheader against the No. 7 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs in Moss Point Tuesday, April 11.

The Lady Diamond Warriors lost the first game of the afternoon 9-8, but picked up a 10-5 victory over the Lady Bulldogs in game two.

With the split, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ is now 34-6 overall and 19-5 in MACJC league play.

April 12, 2017

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ baseball team was swept by Hinds Community College after letting the Eagles take early leads in both games of the doubleheader at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur Tuesday, April 11.

Hinds took game one 6-3 and the nightcap 13-5.

With the losses, the Warriors dropped to 22-12 overall and 8-8 in MACJC league play. The Eagles improved to 21-9 on the season and 10-4 in the league.

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Workforce Development Center will offer a course in Manufacturing Safety beginning Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Career Advancement Center in Louisville.

The cost is $25 per person and the class meets from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for two consecutive days. Greg Forsythe will serve as instructor.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ in Decatur will again serve as the host site for the annual Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges All-Star Basketball Games. 

This year's event is set for Friday, April 14. The women's contest begins at 5 p.m. and will be followed by the men's matchup at the Brackeen-Wood Gym.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ will host the third annual East Central Mississippi High School All-Star Basketball Games Thursday, April 13, in the Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium on the Decatur campus.

The women’s contest begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the men’s match-up at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Participants are divided into North and South teams, based on the location of their schools.
