Freshman catcher Anna McNeer hit a pair of home runs and drove in six runs to help the �Ӱ���Ƶ softball team split a pair of games Monday, Feb. 25, in Ellisville.

The �Ӱ���Ƶ Lady Warriors scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to run-rule the East Mississippi Lady Lions 12-4 in the nightcap, bouncing back from a 17-7 loss earlier in the day to the No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Jones College Lady Bobcats.

The �Ӱ���Ƶ softball team opened the 2019 season with a pair of wins at the Northeast Mississippi Community College TigerFest Tournament, and in the process gave Eric Neel his first win as head coach of the Lady Warriors.

�Ӱ���Ƶ in Decatur has announced that season tickets are now on sale for all 2019 regular season home baseball and softball doubleheaders.

Season tickets to the 13 home baseball doubleheaders in the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex this spring are $45 for general admission or $100 for reserved chairback seats. Each season ticket admits one person per doubleheader. General admission single game tickets are $7 for those ages 18 and older.

The �Ӱ���Ƶ softball program will host a new series of “Thursday Nights Under the Lights” training during January 2019 for softball players in grades 7-12.

The camps will be under the direction of new head softball coach Eric Neel and assistant coach Emily Church, as well as current Lady Warrior softball players.

New �Ӱ���Ƶ head softball coach Eric Neel has announced a new camp called Softball Kids Under the Lights that will be held on six Mondays in December and January.

The softball instruction is for those in grades 1-6 and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, 2018, and Jan. 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2019.

The cost is $100 if paid by Nov. 25, or $25 for each individual session attended.

The �Ӱ���Ƶ softball and baseball teams are hosting a 27-hole golf scramble tournament Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Decatur Country Club, with all proceeds going to support the two programs.

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Each two-person team will play nine holes before taking a lunch break. The teams will then be flighted before the final 18 holes of the tournament are played in the afternoon.

Emily Church, who was an integral part of back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference championships while a member of the Jacksonville State University softball team, is the new assistant softball coach at �Ӱ���Ƶ in Decatur.

Church joins the staff of Eric Neel as he begins his first year as head coach of the Lady Warrior program.

Neel said that Church will work with the catchers and pitchers, as well as help with outfielders and recruiting.

The �Ӱ���Ƶ softball program is hosting a Fall Camp and League for fast-pitch softball players who will be in grades 7-12 during the 2018-19 school year.

The camp will be Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2-5 p.m. Games will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from Oct. 22-Nov. 12.

All activity will take place at the �Ӱ���Ƶ Softball Park on the Decatur campus.

The cost is $130 per person and includes the camp and games.
