ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Falls Second Consecutive Day to Nationally Ranked Opponents

For the second consecutive day, the nationally ranked ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ tennis teams found themselves on the courts with two other nationally ranked teams. This time it was Marion Military Institute, and the hosts of Marion, Ala., grabbed a pair of victories Saturday, Feb. 9.

The No. 14 Marion women picked up an 8-1 win over the No. 20 Lady Warriors, while the No. 13 Marion Tigers won 6-3 over the No. 21 East Central men.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Teams Fall at Home to Gulf Coast

Four nationally ranked tennis teams squared off on the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ campus in Decatur Friday, Feb. 10, with the teams from Gulf Coast coming out victorious in both matches.

The No. 18 Gulf Coast women defeated the No. 20 ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Lady Warriors 6-3, while the No. 19 Gulf Coast men won 7-2 over the No. 21 East Central men.

With the losses, the Lady Warriors are 1-1 on the season and the Warriors are 0-2. It was the season opener for both Gulf Coast teams.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors Top Co-Lin 79-76 in Overtime, While Lady Warriors Fall

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors got 20 points from freshman guard Kareem Thompson and 18 from sophomore forward JaQuarius Smith to earn a hard-fought 79-76 overtime win and season sweep over the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves Thursday, Feb. 6, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur. The Co-Lin Lady Wolves prevailed over the cold shooting Lady Warriors 62-44 in the women’s game.
