ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Women’s Basketball Falls to Nationally Ranked Jones

Despite a double-double performance by Curtisha Coleman of Wayne County High School, the Lady Warriors fell 96-74 against the No. 21 nationally ranked Jones County Lady Bobcats Thursday, Jan. 26, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.

Coleman led all scorers with a career–high of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Also, in double-digit scoring were Autumn Taylor of Newton High School with 17 points, Shantavis Hughes of Hattiesburg High School with 11 and Bryona Stewart of Itawamba Agricultural High School with 10 points.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Teams Set to Open New Season, New Facilities

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Coach Jay Pacelli says more talent and increased depth have brought much optimism to the college’s men’s and women’s tennis teams as they hit the courts for the spring 2017 season Friday, Feb. 3, at Marion Military Institute in Marion, Ala.

Pacelli, who is in his second year leading the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ tennis teams, said both teams will be better this season.

East Central Warriors Pick Up Road Win Over Pearl River 83-56

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ men’s basketball team defeated Pearl River Community College 83-56 in Poplarville Monday, Jan. 23.

The Warriors moved to 8-6 on the season and 3-2 in the MACJC South Division.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ went on top in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead. East Central was up 46-29 at the half and led by as many as 31 in the second half.

Spots Available for ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Baseball’s Indoor Hitting and Pitching Clinics

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ baseball program is again offering indoor hitting and pitching clinics on the Decatur campus for youth ages 6-12.

The Hitting Clinic will be from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Thursday evenings for four consecutive weeks beginning January 26.

The Pitching Clinic will be from 6 to 7:15 p.m. on Monday evenings for four consecutive weeks beginning Jan. 30.

The cost is $100 for the Hitting Clinic and $75 for the Pitching Clinic. Participants can attend both clinics for $150.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Soccer Teams to Hold Open Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2017 ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ women’s and men’s soccer teams will be held on the Decatur campus, announced head soccer coaches Gray Massey and Kenneth Thompson.

The men will hold their tryout on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. The women will hold their tryout on Friday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. Registration will be held at the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building beginning at 1 p.m.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Men’s Basketball Falls Short Against Gulf Coast

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors lost a close back and forth battle against the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs 79-77 in Perkinston Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The score was tied seven times and the lead changed hands nine times in the second half alone, but a lay-up with two seconds left in the game put Gulf Coast on top for the win.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ led by one at the intermission.

Second Half Surge Helps ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Women’s Basketball Beat MGCCC

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Lady Warrior basketball team pulled out another MACJC South Division win this time against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Perkinston.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ trailed by two at the half, but with a strong second half performance the Lady Warriors defeated MGCCC 77-68.
