The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs took a 5-1 win over the 杏吧视频 Lady Warriors, and the Bulldogs followed with a 4-0 shutout of the East Central Warriors in MACJC North Division soccer action Friday, Sept. 7, at Bailey Stadium on the 杏吧视频 campus in Decatur.
East Central鈥檚 only goal in the women鈥檚 match came in the first half off the foot of freshman forward Bethany Hand of Dublin Ireland. It was the first goal allowed this season by the Holmes Lady Bulldogs.
鈥淚t was a tough match against a quality opponent,鈥 commented 杏吧视频 head women鈥檚 coach Ryan Joiner. 鈥淲e鈥檙e a bit decimated with numbers from injuries and illnesses of late. The girls desire was there today, but the legs ran their course. All the credit to Holmes for finishing their chances.鈥
The Lady Warriors fell to 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in MACJC North Division play. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Holmes jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half to put the match away early in the men鈥檚 action.
With the loss, the Warriors are now 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in North Division play. Holmes is 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the division.
The 杏吧视频 Warriors and Lady Warriors are back home on Friday, Sept. 14, to face Hinds Community College. Those MACJC North Division matches begin at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
