40 ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Student-Athletes Recognized Nationally for Academic Success

Forty ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ student-athletes have been honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their academic performance during the 2019-2020 school year.

In addition to individual awards, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ women’s tennis team garnered the 2019-20 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year award for that sport with a 3.83 grade-point average.

Led by the Women’s Tennis team, six ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ varsity sports teams earned National Junior College Athletic Association Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention awards for having met the grade-point average requirement of 3.00 or better for the 2019-2020 academic year.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Announces 8-Game 2020 Football Schedule

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Warriors will open the 2020 football season by hosting five-time national champion East Mississippi Community College Thursday, Sept. 10, in Bailey Stadium on the campus in Decatur. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

The season opener will also mark the debut of the new 12,300 square-foot Warrior Hall football operations center located outside the north end zone of Bailey Stadium.

ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ Tennis Teams Finish Abbreviated Season with National Rankings

Although their seasons were cut short due to the Coronavirus, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ men’s and women’s tennis teams both are included in the final Oracle/ITA JUCO Top 25 polls.

The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ men are ranked No. 20 in the most recent poll and third among Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges men’s teams.
