The Hinds Community College tennis teams defeated the 杏吧视频 Warriors and Lady Warriors in MACJC matches played Tuesday, April 2, on the Hinds campus in Raymond.
The No. 18 ranked Hinds Eagles won the men鈥檚 match 9-0, while the Hinds Lady Eagles defeated the No. 25 ranked 杏吧视频 Lady Warriors 5-4. The two teams split back in March, with the Lady Warriors winning 5-4 and the Warriors losing 7-2.
The East Central women are now 10-7 on the season, while the 杏吧视频 men are 8-9.
鈥淚t was a tough loss for the women,鈥 said 杏吧视频 head tennis coach Jay Pacelli. 鈥淗inds played well. We had some good individual performances from Ali Grace Walker, Bethany Wellerman, and Kayla Baucum.鈥

Hinds鈥 Mateo Garcia and Carlos Trujillo defeated EC鈥檚 Chris Lawrance (York, Western Australia) and Isaac Santitto (Innisfail, Queensland, Australia), 8-4; Hinds鈥 Chris Adams and Bryce Livingston defeated EC鈥檚 Dylan Barnett (Newton County) and Peyton Chaney (Newton County), 8-3; and Hinds鈥 Eric Holmes and Drew Rexrode defeated EC鈥檚 Will Ladner (Stone County) and Jake Wofford (East Webster), 8-1.

Trujillo defeated EC鈥檚 Lawrance, 6-3, 7-5; Garcia defeated EC鈥檚 Santitto, 6-1, 6-3; Holmes defeated EC鈥檚 Barnett, 6-1, 6-1; Livingston defeated EC鈥檚 Isaac Keen (Winston Academy), 6-3, 6-4; Adams defeated EC鈥檚 Wofford, 6-1, 6-2; and Rexrode defeated EC鈥檚 Chaney, 6-1, 6-2.

EC鈥檚 Josie Hurst (Newton County) and Ali Grace Walker (Newton County) defeated Hinds鈥 Paula Gutierrez and Danna Gonzalez, 8-4; Hinds鈥 Anna Hayden Taylor and Ayrelle Grace Waters defeated EC鈥檚 Gabriela Gomez (Bogota, Colombia) and Kayla Baucum (Newton County), 8-6; and Hinds鈥 Courtney Buffington and Madison Curtis defeated EC鈥檚 Alexis Tindall (Newton County Academy) and Bethany Wellerman (Newton County Academy), 8-4.

East Central will host Marion Military (Ala.) at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5, and then close out its home schedule with Sophomore Day against Itawamba at Noon on Saturday, April 6.
