The No. 20 nationally ranked 杏吧视频 women鈥檚 tennis team opened the 2020 season Friday, Jan. 31, with a 7-2 home win over Itawamba, while the No. 21 ranked Warriors fell to Itawamba 6-3.
鈥淚t was a great start for our women,鈥 said 杏吧视频 Head Tennis Coach Jay Pacelli. 鈥淎ll of them played hard and well. It was a team victory against a good ICC squad. On the men鈥檚 side, it was a tight match with five of the six singles matches going the distance. The Itawamba men are also a very good squad.鈥
Women鈥檚 Doubles Results:
EC鈥檚 Natalia Beltran (Bogota, Colombia) and Alejandra Vargas (Bogota, Colombia) defeated ICC鈥檚 Julianna Alves and Maggie Creekmore 8-2; EC鈥檚 Josie Hurst (Newton County) and Ali Grace Walker (Newton County) defeated ICC鈥檚 Riley Crouch and Farrah Fowlkes, 8-3; and ICC鈥檚 Brianna Hibler and Sydney Ferguson defeated EC鈥檚 Kayla Baucum (Newton County) and Marla Graham (Newton County Academy), 8-6.

EC鈥檚 Beltran defeated Alves 6-2, 6-1; EC鈥檚 Vargas defeated Creekmore, 6-3, 6-0; EC鈥檚 Walker defeated Fowlkes 6-0, 3-6 (10-5); EC鈥檚 Hurst defeated Crouch 6-3, 6-0; ICC鈥檚 Hibler defeated Baucum 4-6, 6-4 (10-8); and EC鈥檚 Graham defeated Ferguson 6-1, 6-1.
Men鈥檚 Doubles Results:
ICC鈥檚 Franco Roldan and Sergio Garcia defeated EC鈥檚 Chris Lawrance (York, Western Australia) and Isaac Santitto (Innisfail, Queensland, Australia), 8-5; EC鈥檚 Dylan Barnett (Newton County) and Peyton Chaney (Newton County) defeated ICC鈥檚 Reese Duncan and Hayden Embry, 8-5; and ICC鈥檚 Jacambrian Madlock and Jackson Christ defeated EC鈥檚 Dominick Donaldson (Florence) and Rhy Elizar (Florence), 8-2.
Men鈥檚 Singles Results:
ICC鈥檚 Roldan defeated Lawrance, 5-7, 6-3 (10-4); ICC鈥檚 Garcia defeated Santitto, 3-6, 6-4 (10-3); ICC鈥檚 Duncan defeated Barnett, 4-6, 7-6 (12-10); ICC鈥檚 Embry defeated Chaney, 6-3, 6-3; EC鈥檚 Chris Albert (Vicksburg, St. Aloysius) defeated Madlock, 6-7, 6-2 (10-7); and EC鈥檚 Donaldson defeated ICC鈥檚 Torean King, 4-6, 6-3 (10-8).
The East Central teams will host Meridian at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Tennis Complex on the campus in Decatur. Gulf Coast will visit East Central for matches beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.
