杏吧视频 Soccer Teams Drop Road Matches at Pearl River

For the second time in five days, the road was not kind to the 杏吧视频 men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer teams as they both lost matches at Pearl River Community College on Tuesday, Aug. 28, in Poplarville.

In the opener, the Pearl River Lady Wildcats made a first half goal stand up in a 1-0 shutout of the 杏吧视频 Lady Warriors

鈥淭he girls were very good going forward in the first half but just couldn鈥檛 finish any chances in the final third,鈥 said 杏吧视频 head women鈥檚 coach Ryan Joiner after the non-division match. 鈥淲e鈥檙e playing good soccer and continually improving for the division opener against Itawamba on Friday.鈥

The 杏吧视频 Lady Warriors are now 1-2 on the season, while the Pearl River Lady Wildcats won their first match to improve to 1-2.

The men鈥檚 matchup that followed was all Pearl River. The Wildcats scored five goals in each half for a 10-2 win. Sophomore midfielder Logan Wilkerson out of George County and sophomore midfielder Vitor Gomes of Fortaleza, Brazil, scored East Central鈥檚 only two goals in the second half.

The Warriors fell to 0-2 on the season, while the Pearl River Wildcats remained undefeated at 3-0.

The East Central teams will play their regular season home openers and first MACJC North Division matches of the season when Itawamba Community College visits the Soccer Field on the campus in Decatur on Friday, Aug. 31. The women will play at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m.

Following a trip to Senatobia to face Northwest Mississippi Community College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, the Warriors and Lady Warriors are home again on Friday, Sept. 7, against North Division foe Holmes Community College. The women will play at 3 p.m., followed by the men at 5 p.m.
