The ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ women’s basketball team fell to Northeast Mississippi Community College 77-61 Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.
Freshman Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ scorers with 17 points. She added three assists and two steals.
ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ trailed by 10 at the half, but outscored the Lady Tigers by five points in the third quarter. Freshman Kaylin McCree’s (Newton County High School) layup put ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ on top 44-43 with 4:35 left in the third quarter; however, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ could not hold on to the lead in the final quarter.
East Central fell to 5-3 on the season.
The Lady Warriors will travel to Shelton State Community College Monday, Dec. 12, to finish this year’s games. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Both the men’s and women’s teams resume play Jan. 10 at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba.
