Students from ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ competed in 13 events at the recent FBLA Collegiate State Leadership Conference held at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.
Of the 13 events, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ placed in 10 categories.
Along with competition victories, ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµâ€™s Jasmine Overton was named to Who’s Who in FBLA and received the Rufus T. Jones Scholarship, while Jaelean Hathorne was appointed as State Parliamentarian.
As a chapter, East Central was recognized with second place in fundraising for the March of Dimes and was named a Gold Seal Chapter.
State award winners include Jaelean Hathorne, Jena Gunter, and Liv Wheat, first place, state of the chapter; Jena Gunter, first place, computer applications; Jena Gunter, first place, future business teacher; Averi Hill and Jasmine Hathorne, second place, entrepreneurial pitch; Jediah King, second place, business law; Averi Hill, second place, retail management; Liv Wheat, fourth place, impromptu speaking; Jaelean Hathorne, fourth place, parliamentary procedure; Jaelean Hathorne, fourth place, job interview; and Jasmine Overton, fourth place, public speaking.
Students now qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this summer.
