ӰƵ defender&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ecccathletics.com/sports/msoc/2022-23/bios/shockley_noah_rmtm">Noah Shockley</a>&nbsp;and forward&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ecccathletics.com/sports/msoc/2022-23/bios/reape_evan_4efa">Evan Reape</a>&nbsp;both got the nod as Honorable Mention All-MACCC (Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference) selections.</p> <p>Shockley, a sophomore from Long Beach, was the vocal leader for the Warriors on the backline the entire season. His efforts helped the Warriors pick up two shutout victories on the season.</p> <p>“Noah was a leader for this team both on and off the field,” said head coach Ethan Paschal. “He constantly strives for greatness, and the hard work that he puts in shows on the field, and this honor is very well deserved.”</p> <p>Reape was a goal-scorer for the Warriors this season as he netted eight goals, including a staggering four-goal performance against Northwest.&nbsp;</p> <p>"Evan has been a goal threat all season. His quality in the final third was crucial on our road to the playoffs," said Paschal.</p> <p>The Warriors finished the season 5-7 overall and 5-5 in MACCC play, earning a spot in the Gulf South District quarterfinals. The No. 6 seeded Lady Warriors will travel to Senatobia to take on the No. 3 Northwest Lady Rangers on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m.</p> <p>The contest will not be streamed due to expected rain in the area, but fans can follow @ӰƵAthletics on Twitter for updates throughout the match.</p> <p>The Warriors also enter the playoffs as the No. 6 seed. The team is set to travel to Poplarville on Sunday, Oct. 30, to take on the No. 3 Wildcats at 7 p.m. More information about live stream links will be released when it becomes available.</p> <p>Playoffs are set up differently this year as the MACCC no longer has north and south divisions for soccer. Each team played every MACCC opponent one time with points awarded for a win or draw.&nbsp;The overall winner earned a bye into the tournament, while teams seeded two through seven will take part in the play-in games at the higher seed's home venue. A victory will propel the Lady Warriors to 6th place in the MACCC standings and set the Lady Warriors up with a meeting at Northwest for the first round of the playoffs. A loss or draw would eliminate ӰƵ from playoff contention.&nbsp;</p> <p>The men's team has locked their spot in the playoffs, but the match against ICC can change seeding. The win moved the Warriors to 2-0 in conference play, while the Rangers fell to 0-2.&nbsp;</p> <p>Fans barely had time to find their seats in the nightcap before Reape found the back of the net in the opening minutes of play. Reape got a great assist from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ecccathletics.com/sports/msoc/2022-23/bios/swedi_karim_4q5l">Karim Swedi</a>&nbsp;(Arusha, Tanzania) to put ӰƵ on top 1-0.&nbsp;</p> <p>Just four minutes later, Reape was on the attack again and after a great touch, poured his second goal of the night past the keeper. Just five minutes into play, ӰƵ led, 2-0. Reape had a chance for a hat trick within the first 10 minutes of play, but a header opportunity went just wide. That did not stop the freshman though as he scored yet again, his third goal of the half, 28 minutes into the match.&nbsp;</p> <p>The Warriors took that 3-0 lead into the break, but Reape added another goal, this time off an assist from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ecccathletics.com/sports/msoc/2022-23/bios/vithal_jashil_3qws">Jashil Vithal</a>&nbsp;(Johannesburg, South Africa) in the 51st minute to grow the lead to the final, 4-0, score.&nbsp;</p> <p>"I'm very pleased with the boys performance tonight. They executed in the moments we really needed them to and saw the game out," said ӰƵ head coach Ethan Paschal. "It's always a good thing when your striker is scoring goals so we're buzzing for Evan [Reape]. "We have to do better at putting those chances away early, but we managed to get two before half which was great for momentum. The loss drops the Warriors to 0-1 on the year, while the Indians improve to 1-0.</p> <p>ICC scored early and often in the opening minutes to jump out to a 3-0 advantage in the first 20 minutes of play. That lead stretched to 5-0 in the final minutes of the first half.</p> <p>The Warriors had some strong attacks in the second half and had some scoring opportunities, but failed to find the back of the net. The Indians knocked in two more goals, one on a header and the other on a chip shot over the keeper's hands.</p> <p><strong><u>Two Ahead</u></strong></p> <p>The Warriors will be on the road on Friday, Aug. 26, as the team travels to Columbus to take on the Mississippi University for Women.
