�Ӱ��Ƶ in Decatur has announced the members of its 2022-23 Cheerleading Squad.

The members receive full-tuition scholarships. In addition to cheering at all home and away football games and home basketball contests, the Warrior Cheer Team participates in campus pep rallies, parades with the college’s Wall O’ Sound Marching Band, community service, and other activities and events.

Returning members from last year’s squad and their high schools include rising sophomores Kaleb Blackwell, Newton County; Lexxi Carter, Neshoba Central; Asia Lofton, Forest; Lauren Nowell, Kosciusko; and Natalie Verry, Neshoba Central.

First-year members include rising sophomores Alex Sharp, Union; Jocelyn Fitzhugh, Morton; and Skylar Scott, West Lauderdale; and incoming freshmen Isabella Carr, Hartfield Academy; Candice Crain, East Rankin Academy; Katie Denton, Neshoba Central; Brooklyn Ellis, Newton County Academy; Shakendra Green, Northeast Lauderdale; Macy Jones, Pisgah; Sarah Anne Massey, Pisgah; and Alexandra Tucker, Union.

�Ӱ��Ƶ’s Cheer Coach is Bailey Gibson, who was a member of the Ole Miss Cheer Team while in college.

�Ӱ��Ƶ is looking for energetic and driven student-athletes ready to cheer at the collegiate level.

�Ӱ��Ƶ Cheerleaders are held to a higher standard as they represent the college publicly on many occasions and receive a full-tuition scholarship. In addition to cheering at all home and away football games and home basketball contests, the Warrior Cheer Team also participates in campus pep rallies, parades with the college's Wall O’ Sound Marching Band, community service, and other activities and events.

The �Ӱ��Ƶ Warrior Cheer Team will soon transition to a competitive cheer program. The first step is to attend a UCA (University Cheerleaders Association) college camp. The goal in 2022-23 is to build a foundation of hardworking, talented athletes so that one day the team can compete in the Game Day Division of UCA College Nationals.

�Ӱ��Ƶ Warrior Cheer Coach Bailey Gibson was a coed cheerleader at The University of Mississippi for three years. She is full of energy and excited to start this new journey with �Ӱ��Ƶ Cheerleading.

All requirements and recommendations will be shown and demonstrated by the current cheerleaders at all clinics. The current �Ӱ��Ƶ Cheerleaders will teach all material and assist participants with stunting. The tryout process will be explained at each clinic as well as a quick Question-and-Answer session.

�Ӱ��Ƶ in Decatur will hold tryouts for the 2021-22 Cheerleading Squad from 8 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, April 10, in the South Campus Gymnasium.

There is a $25 fee for all participants.

Pre-tryout clinics for the coed squad will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 6, 7, and 8, also in the South Campus Gymnasium. Those wishing to tryout must attend at least one clinic.

Females will be required to perform a cheer, fight song routine, and three stunts. Males will be required to perform three stunts (tossed to hand, extension, and optional third stunt). Tumbling is preferred for men and women, but not required.

Those selected for the squad receive full-tuition scholarships.
